The first week in Thailand has been extremely busy. We have started language classes, no speaking English. The Thai teachers help us understand the words, phrases and sentences using lots of visuals. We had to learn to introduce ourselves by the Thai greeting, saying our name and last name, the city, state and country we are from. This was for a welcoming ceremony Fri. morning with the vice-governor of Sing Buri, Sing Buri is the province we will be staying in for the rest of Pre service training (8 weeks). We are moving from the hotel to host families Sunday.
The Peace Corp had a short welcoming ceremony with PC staff and Thai teachers and staff Thus. night to wish us the best in our time here. After dinner there was a couple of hours of Karaoke with some talent and lots of enthusiasm.
On Fri. afternoon we went to our hub site where we will spend the rest of our training time. We got out bikes and some information about biking in Thailand. We spent Sat. biking in the area of the hub and through some of the home stay neighborhoods. There were 2 large Wats and I promise pictures later.
A few of the pictures I do have are here and more to come. There are 3 of us here from Colorado, that is the picture of us on bikes.
