Week 4 in Pictures On Saturday 1/28 we had Thai Day at the hub. Our Thai staff and teachers did a great version of “New York, New York” with bicycle helmets for top hats and pointers the teachers use in class to teach us the Thai alphabet. I learned to play a Thai instrument with other volunteers. It was a gong with a nice sound, made of brass. We are wearing a paasin, google it
. On Sunday, I came home at noon to find a new patio being poured. The family worked together and finished in a couple of hours. The “kitchen” was moved a few feet during construction. I finally got a good picture of the herd of cows I see everyday on my way home. Two sweet ladies herd them and they graze, plod along. I found out they are used to work in the rice fields, very skinny. We taught this week in grade 1/2. Darling, polite kids who warmed up very quickly and had fun playing games in English. We had a fun day this Saturday, 2/4, playing the Thai version of volleyball and basketball. For basketball, someone stands on a chair and holds the basket, a plastic basket the size of a small trash can. For volleyball, you cannot use your hands, use elbows, knees, head, feet. It was quite a bit of fun and a nice break from all the classes that go on during the week.
