Museums

We went to 2 museums.  One was ancient history.  There were wonderful displays of restored and worn pieces from the various wats with a history of who conquered the area at certain times and what belief systems was in place.  While Thailand’s history is Buddhist, Cambodia’s includes many beliefs, primarily Hindu and Buddhist and the wats contain Hindu deities.
The second museum is very small and rustic and it was started by a man who was trained as a child to kill and plant land mines.  He has dedicated his life to land mine removal and to housing and educating children hurt or impoverished because of land mines.  The museum is a testament to what happened, but it is also full of hope as they work to rebuild and remove the dangers to villagers.  It was the most touching place for me of the visit.
