On Tuesday, the students and staff celebrated Sunthon Phu
day. He was a poet born on June 26,
1786. http://www.thailandlife.com/thai-culture/sunthon-phu.html
this site tells you more. Lots of drama
to his life being in and out of favor with kings, but his poetry lives on.
There were a few “plays” depicting some Thai
traditions/beliefs. The students got to
draw pictures, watch movies, play and probably listen to stories about their
country.
When I got to school teachers were getting kids ready for
their parts. One 5th grade
girl who was a giant did a phenomenal job, scaring one of the little ones a bit
too much. They all laughed, but backed
up as she came off the stage. It was fun
and once again, my understanding is limited by language, so frustrating.
But pictures are always fun.
